Instructions

1. Remove one screw from each hinge on the door frame side. Pre-drill each hole with a small drill bit. Do not use the bit we include as that is for installing the screws on the Door Security Pro only. Replace each screw with one of the 3" silver colored screws provided.

-Make them snug but do not over tighten them as you can strip the head of the screw off.

-Coating each screw with WD-40 will help them go in easier.


2. Remove the door knob and deadbolt strike plates from the door frame.

- You don't have to remove the deadbolt strike plate if it sits flush with the door frame.

- You can cut the rounded edge portion off the door knob strike plate and re-mount it if you'd like (leaving it UNDER  the Door Security Pro).

3. Correctly align the Door Security Pro on the door frame. Use the 2 small screws to tack it in place temporarily. Put one screw in the very top hole and one in the very bottom hole.

4. Close the door to make sure that everything fits. 

- Should your deadbolt be in a non-standard location, drill a hole in the correct location on the Door Security Pro.
To locate the correct spot, place a dab of toothpaste on the end of the deadbolt stem, close the door, turn  the deadbolt as if you were locking it. This will leave a toothpaste spot on the Door Security Pro in the correct spot. Drill a hole in that exact spot with a 1" bi-metal hole bit. Any hardware store stocks this item.


5. Drill pilot holes in the 9 unoccupied holes on the Door Security Pro with the drill bit we provide.

- Pilot holes are CRITICAL as you are almost assured of stripping the head off the screw if you don't.


6. Install 9 of the white 3.5" screws into the Door Security Pro.

- Coating each screw with a lubricant such as WD-40 will help them go in much easier.

- Do NOT OVERTIGHTEN the screws. Make them snug, but not super tight.


7. Remove the two temporary 'tacking' screws, drill pilot holes and install screws in the very top and bottom holes.

- You should be left with 1 extra white screw (included just in case you need one)


The installation is now complete.
